Climate models indicate that if no effort is made to curtail the current growth of greenhouse gas emissions, global average surface temperatures will increase by about five degrees F (~3 °C), by 2100. Some models say that will occur even if all nations follow the Kyoto Protocols now. That much temperature increase would cause a sea level rise of 18-20 feet over several centuries (Hansen 2006).
