The initial operational constellation (CICERO-I) will consist of 20 LEOs in multiple orbit planes for broad global coverage. CICERO-I is scheduled to become operational in early 2011. A variety of orbit configurations are under consideration. One of the simplest, shown here, would place six LEOs in each of three planes with 60 degree spacing at the equator, plus two live spares. Here we show typical link patterns between the LEOs (yellow orbits) and the GPS satellites (red orbits). The magenta lines are non-occulting links. The green line is an ionospheric occultation and the two white lines are atmospheric occultations.
